PERISTYLE/ˈpɛrɪstaɪl/noun
(Latin peristylum, from Greek peristulon, from peri “around” and stulos “column”)
1.archit. (antiquity) A covered gallery lined with columns, surrounding the courtyard or garden of a Roman house. A fountain murmured at the centre of the peristyle.
2.fig. PERISTYLE: a place of one’s own where what you read and what you keep come together. The feeds you follow, the links you set aside, the pages you archive, gathered around the same garden, at home, sheltered from the street.
